I know, I KNOW...we need the rain. But I am starting to feel like a cartoon character with a big rain cloud over me as I walk. We had the rain disaster on vacation; and it has always seemed like all Jamie or I have to do is say the word "trip" and the bottow falls out. We have been planning for almost two weeks to go to Stone Mountain today. They are having a pumpkin festival, and we were going to make a long day trip and visit the festival and see the laser show. Guess what?!? RAIN! With a 60% chance of thunderstorms, we were not about to take the risk and make that trip. Instead, we opted for "family fun day" in Savannah. We left home this morning with really no game plan, except that the girls wanted Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We grabbed breakfast, and decided to go to Flying Frogs. The girls were tickled, and we stayed for a pretty good while. After that, we entertained the idea of going to Tybee to the Pirate Fest, since my girls LOOOVE some pirates. We decided against it, and opted for River Street instead. The girls have never really gone down to the river and seen downtown. I LOVE downtown...minus the crowds. I was noticing all the tourists today, and I mentioned to Jamie that we take for granted how beautiful Savannah really is, and all the history we have right in our backyard. It was sooooo nice outside...a great day for walking around and letting the girls look around. We had lunch at the Shrimp Factory (yummm!) and took the girls to the Candy Kitchen. I managed to take a quick pic in there...and it is a frightening one..lol.
YIKES! Told ya!
I took this one outside waiting for Jamie to pay for their loot....much better!
SECONDS after I took this pic...you guessed it....the bottom fell out! Of COURSE I wasn't carrying an umbrella, and of COURSE we were parked in a garage across Bay St.! I grabbed the girls and ducked under a big awning and gave Jamie the puppy face until he knew he was going out in the rain to get the car. Since it was storming, and the rain was coming down SO hard, we didn't make many more stops after that. We went to the Savannah Mall and went to Skukuzoo, then headed home. I was really hoping they could wear something "fall-y" today, and that I was going to be taking pics of them at a pumpkin festival....but we made the most of Jamie's day off; and got to have a little fun before heading back to school Monday.
Cute! That is a great background!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Stone Mountain... I know, I know -- had a sheltered life. Have to say, I've enjoyed the rain. It is so dry over here and the dust blowing off the fields is reaping havoc on my sinuses! But, now what you mean about rain when you have plans... Sounds like that the day turned out good! Love the pics of the girls outside! CUTE!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a day of fun! We left for Savannah around lunch time Sat. and of course drove all the way to Savannah in the rain but did manage to get to Toys R Us before it started raining there! No such luck though when it was time to leave. Going to have to check out the Stone Mtn. thing.......sounds like lots of fun :0)
