Alligators and Chicks

There is no way I can type the whole "back story" to this...but basically, Mama and I have teased Bailey for ages that we will call "Mr. Alligator" when she's whiney. I know, I know...that is emotional abuse. However...when you see her smile from ear to ear in an effort to scare him away, you will understand why we have continued this disturbing joke. Anyway!! Mama and I took the girls to Savannah on Friday, since we had a sudden holiday. On the way home, Bailey suddenly announced that she had to use the bathroom. With Bailey, that means it's an emergency, and time has run out! We were just before coming out of Ft. Stewart, and I begged her to hang in there; then tried distracting her with her favorite song (which believe it or not is the last song from Grease). We were in the home stretch, around Camp Oliver, when the whining intensified. I assured her we were almost there, and begged her to "be a big girl". When we got to the bridge coming into Glennville (the home of the dreaded Mr. Alligator) Mama said "alright, I'm going to drop you off" (sympathetic, aren't we?). I whispered to Mama to put on the brakes, and when she did, Bailey screamed "NOOOO!!". Then, in an unexpected turn of events, she said "Okay, fine. But do you think Mr. Alligator has a potty I can teetee in?" Cue the outburst of laughter from mean, mean Mama and Mam-ma! That poor, mistreated child was willing to stare death in the face if it meant getting some relief!!

On a more somber note...it seems the only remaining chick I brought home from school has met its untimely demise. The first one tragically died at the hands of Emi...who was less than remorseful. She picked up the poor dead chick and said to "it's DEAD...not sleeping...DEAD!!" Emphasizing her words by shaking the little critter at me. I'm not sure she really understood the seriousness of the situation...hmmmm....I just don't know about the Wilsons. The second was wandering in the yard...hillbilly style. I don't hear it anymore, so I assume there's a happy kitty somewhere nearby. I sure wish I felt guilty....
